From sketch to settled-in

How a Boldtura commission actually runs — week by week.

No mystique. This is the same sequence we have used for the last decade, written out as it happens, so you can plan delivery around your own moving day, hotel opening or kitchen renovation.

Stage one

Briefing & first conversation

A first call lasts about forty minutes. We map the room (a photograph, a rough sketch or a CAD plan all work), agree the silhouette, and pick three or four timber and fabric directions. By the end of the call you should know what we are building, what it is likely to cost within a 15% band, and roughly when it will be delivered.

If you prefer to visit in person, the workshop is open by appointment Monday to Saturday and you’ll meet at least one maker on the floor.

Stage two

Drawings, samples & the written quote

Within five working days you receive a measured CAD drawing (plan, elevation and section), a fabric box couriered to your door with cuttings of the timber and upholstery options, and a fully written quote with line-item costs.

Two rounds of revision are baked in — dimensions, colour, leg profile, cushion fill, whatever needs adjusting. Once you sign off, we lock the price for sixty days and book your slot.

Stage three

The workshop build

Hafiz and the frame team cut your timber to length, joint mortise-and-tenon connections, and dry-assemble the frame before glue-up. Once cured, the frame moves to the spring shop for eight-way hand-tied springs (if specified), then to the cushion bench where Mei Ling builds each seat in four layered passes.

Throughout, Nurul sends you photographs at three milestones: frame complete, upholstery skinned, final dressing. If a knot in the timber or a fabric repeat needs a decision, you’ll hear from us the same morning.

Stage four

Delivery, install & the first six months

Ravi’s install crew schedules a two-hour window that fits your day, lifts the piece in (yes, including the lift-or-stairs question — we measure for that on the briefing call), plumps the cushions, and stays until you have sat on it and approved.

For the first six months we offer a no-fee adjustment visit: a slipcover that has settled, a leg that has come slightly loose during the move, a cushion that wants re-stuffing. Just call.
